G News - the good news

"So much for law and order", wrote a G News reader as they read that the Government has ripped the guts out of the team who fight anti-money laundering and Counter Financial Terrorism, booting 21 of the team onto the street while Paul Goldsmith chortled about a big number of public servants and how the public service needs to be mean and lean.

Overall 41 roles at Internal Affairs and 79 at Customs are being stamped out by the Neoliberals. These are people who protect us from digital harm, who protect children from exploitation and of course those counter terrorism people had to go too.

Luxon is weakening our border defences and international crime syndicates must be licking their lips. Not frontline - my arse - say many in the Unions.

Ironically at the same time Luxon was tearing open opportunities for criminals and making us less safe - he was telling the media that he had three slogans to deliver - rebuilding the economy, restoring law and order and building a better public service.

"I like a good slogan", said an organic punga,"It's warm and fuzzy but utterly meaningless"

"Rebuilding the economy and wasting time travelling in pointless junkets don't really fit together, neither does his zero evidence, get tough neoliberal policies on law and order", said a flax bush who obviously had just had a big toke of reality on his pipe.

"Tough on Crime", warbled a majestical Tui before yelling "YEAH RIGHT" and flying off to peck at Nicole McKee.

"Luxon said the new revised three strikes law would be part of restoring law and order but presented no evidence it was effective. This is about Zombie Ideas that sound good like "tough on crime", "ban gang patches", "Military boot camps" and "restoring law and order" but are repeatedly proven to be ineffective. It's also about cracking down with one hand - while opening up the gate with the other. " - said G From G News.

"Learning from past mistakes keeps the zombie ideas away", said Monty - pointing out how - here we we go again - reviving Zombie Ideas that do not work.

Yes this was about being soft on crime and tough on crime all at the same time, a rhyme, not worth a dime...but hey, its mine and that's fine...just a sign of those very bad designs.

The revised Three Strikes law focuses on repeat offenders of 40 violent and sexual offences plus suffocation and strangulation and applies only to sentences over 24 months.

Labour repealed the previous Three Strikes Law because it was an anomaly in the Justice System, where the Key Government told the Judiciary what sentences they must hand down for a range of offences. In addition the previous Three Strikes legislation caused absurd outcomes like a person getting a 10 year jail term for an offence that normally gets about 1.8 months.

RNZ published a misleading clickbait headline that Luxon had boosted defence amid rising global tensions in an article by Katie Scotcher.

The notion is - that simply sitting down and talking about security ties is strengthening ties - even if all you are doing is gossiping about second hand information concerning tensions in the Middle East. Sheesh!!

The good news is Professor Patman agreed with Helen Clark that there definitely has been a shift in this Government's rhetoric and stance with regard to AUKUS 2 - with Winston blithering on about "powerful reasons to join".

Winston will deliver a speech about that Aukus 2 crap in a couple of weeks - hopefully without mentioning the Nazis and what he has seen before.

Nobody Reading this is Gerry Brownlee !!!

Hooray !!!

Fran O'Sullivan praised Luxon to the moon after she was part of the delegation on the latest junket in South East Asia.

Fran manages to hitch a ride on these jollies and I wondered about the way she scorned Jacinda for lacking substance as she kissed the ground where Luxon walked with pep in his step.

"He made a very good debut on the international stage", glowed Fran as she gaffed on like a PR agent - about how he ( Lord Luxon of 7 Houses ) wants to establish personal relationships - and deepen relationships and strengthen security and loads of other vague glib platitudes that were just sheer nonsense.

"Where is the beef?" said someone in the cheap seats - and this caused RNZ to momentarily check if anything tangible had been delivered aside from the propaganda about success and platitudes about platitudes from the same old group.

Over at Health Dr Verrall is lashing out at stupid remarks made by Dr Cigareti while there's a dispute over new doctors joining hospitals - and Nurse Org President Anne Daniels reckons the pressure is being applied so expert Health managers make cuts.

Anne personally did not know of any health departments that was not understaffed and she reckoned promises had been broken and this was a cut no matter how you looked at it.

Seymour was a nonce on AM this morning as he tried to stay out of the Tribunal sunlight about his ill thought out desire to cut section 7AA from the Oranga Tamariki act. Back to the darkness ran the demon ...as Chlöe spread the light.

People were outraged at the lack of balance in recent TV News reporting as News Rooms think the voices of the Opposition do not rate a mention anymore and we all carry on - watching more and more bollocks.

I've made appointments for my teeth and my hearing and am getting on with a diet as you do - after a holiday - and I was pleased to see so many good recommendations about decent TV programs last night on G News.
